The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God as it author, salvation for its end, and truth for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.

God

There is but one God, the Maker, Preserver, and Ruler of all things having in and of Himself, all perfections, and being infinite in them all; and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience. He is revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal attributes, without division of nature, essence, or being.

The Fall of Man

God originally created man in His own image and free from sin; but, through the temptation of Satan, he transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original holiness and righteousness; whereby his posterity inherited a nature corrupt and wholly opposed to God and his law, are under condemnation and as soon as they are capable of moral action, become actual transgressors.

Election

Election is God’s eternal choice of some persons unto everlasting life-not because of foreseen merit in them, but of His mere mercy in Christ-in consequence of which choice they are called, justified, and glorified.

Regeneration

Regeneration is a change of heart, wrought by the Holy Spirit, who quickened the dead in trespasses and sins, enlightening their minds spiritually and savingly to understand the Word of God, and renewing their whole nature, so that they love and practice holiness. It is a work of God’s free and special grace alone.

Repentance and Faith

We believe that repentance and faith are sacred duties, and also inseparable graces; wrought in our souls by the regenerating Spirit of God whereby being deeply convinced of our guilt, danger and helplessness, and of the way of salvation by Christ, we turn to God with unfeigned contrition, confession, and supplication for mercy; at the same time heartily receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as our Prophet, Priest, and King, and relying on Him alone as the only and all-sufficient Savior.

Mark 1:14; Mark 6:12; Luke 13:1-5; John 16:8-11; Acts 17:30; 20:20-21; Rom. 3:25-31

07.

Justification

Justification is God’s gracious and full acquittal of sinners, who believe in Christ, from all sin, through the satisfaction that Christ has made; not for anything wrought in them or done by them but on account of the obedience and satisfaction of Christ, they then receiving and resting on Him and His righteousness by faith.
